Here is how you can Share a Web Page Using a QR Code in Windows
URLs aren’t designed to be human-friendly. They are designed to be an intuitive way to reference stuff on the web and can be really lengthy and complicated too. In some cases, they are made up of unique IDs which can be just a random jumble of letters that is impossible to remember.
Thus, it is hard to share a web page URL by memory. For example, if you have opened a web page on your PC and want to share it with your phone, you don’t really want to have to type it all the way again. Luckily, there is a very easy and intuitive way to do this exact task; QR codes.
A QR code is a type of matrix barcode that is machine-readable and can easily be scanned by most camera apps to transmit information from one device to another. Most PC browsers today like Google Chrome and Microsoft’s Edge now support generating web page QR codes right from the address bar. Here is how you can do it,
Generate a QR Code in Google Chrome
- Open the browser and navigate to the site you want to share via a QR code.
- Click on the address bar to highlight the text and click on the QR icon on the right, as shown in the screenshot below.
Generate a QR Code in Microsoft Edge
- Open the browser and navigate to the site you want to share via a QR code.
- Click on the address bar to highlight the text and click on the QR icon on the right, as shown in the screenshot below.
You can now scan the QR code from the device you want to share the web page to or download it and share it however you want.
