Here is how you can check if the Latest Windows Update is installed on your PC
Since the release of Windows 10, Microsoft has drastically changed the way it updates the most widely used PC OS on the planet. Instead of releasing major new updates as it did after every few years, like Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and so on, it decided to go with iterative updates after a while, releasing new features as well as patching bugs and vulnerabilities.
Microsoft has focused on automatic updates which are almost impossible to disable (you can read our guide if you want to disable windows updates). The updates and changes have also been toned down and there hasn’t been as big of a design or under-the-hood shift since Windows 10 took over from Windows 8. This also creates some confusion because you never really realize which version of Windows you are on unless there is a big new feature that you come across.

How to check Windows Version on your PC
The past few major updates have been named November Update, Anniversary Update, Creators Update, Fall Creators Update, and so on. We have listed down the major updates below along with their version numbers so you can check the version number against the update and see which version you have,
- 1511 – November Update
- 1607 – Anniversary Update
- 1703 – Creators Update
- 1709 – Fall Creators Update
- 1803 – April 2018 Update
- 1809 – October 2018 Update
- 1903 – May 2019 Update
- 1909 – November 2019 Update
Check Windows Version from Settings App
- Open the Settings app. (use shortcut Start + I)
- Click on System and then scroll down in the left pane and click on About.
- Scroll down on the right pane and under the Windows specifications section, you can see the Edition, Version, and build version as well as the date it was installed on. As you can see in this case, the version is 1903, which is the May 2019 Update.
Check Windows Version using winver command
- Open the Run dialog box by pressing Start + R.
- Type winver and then press Enter.
- It will show the version of Windows, as shown in the screenshot below,
Check Windows Version using Command Prompt
- Open Command Prompt by searching for cmd in the Start search box.
- Type systeminfo and press Enter.
It will show you the complete details of your PC including the OS Name, Version, and other details.
