Internet Communication Settings Files, or INS for short, are used by Microsoft's Windows operating system to store important information required for setting up a dial-up or a broadband internet connection. They allow Windows to connect to the internet using an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
An Internet Communication Settings File is also used to set up LAN connection settings for Internet Explorer.
Note: For security reasons, webpage links to INS files are blocked by Internet Explorer by default. You will need to use the Internet Explorer's settings dialog to apply connections settings using an INS, which can be found in IE's settings menu.
